NFL Week 7 Predictions
Not many games I find particularly intriguing/important this week, unless there are some major upsets. The Vikings face a serious challenger to their undefeated record, while the Rams and Bucs will probably drop to 0-7.
Indianapolis Colts 37, St. Louis Rams 21
Might as well give the Colts two bye weeks in a row. Expect this one to be over by the half.
New England Patriots 44, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17
I guess the NFL has to strike a balance between having really good games vs. so-so games played overseas. If the Patriots played the Colts in London they’d probably lose millions in advertising revenue, so instead we’re probably going to witness another massacre on the order of week 6’s Patriots-Titans “game.”
Minnesota Vikings 31, Pittsburgh Steelers 28
Pittsburgh’s defense is definitely not playing at a Super Bowl level. Minnesota finally added the missing piece in the offseason and looks great whether they run or pass. Not even Pittsburgh can stop everything.
San Diego Chargers 47, Kansas City Chiefs 24
The Chargers need a win against lowly Kansas City to stay in the wildcard race, having basically handed Denver the division title. The Chiefs started thinking about 2010 around week three.
Green Bay Packers 35, Cleveland Browns 7
Surely Green Bay’s pass protection isn’t so bad that they still can’t crush the Browns?
San Francisco 49ers 20, Houston Texans 30
I could see the return of Frank Gore vs. the Texans defense making this a bit closer, but Houston is riding a hot streak while the 49ers are floundering after a fast start.
Buffalo Bills 17, Carolina Panthers 24
Defense won’t be a problem, but even when Buffalo wins they only score 16 points.
New York Jets 20, Oakland Raiders 17
Did you hear the news? Jamarcus Russell completed more than 50% of his passes last week! …
Atlanta Falcons 34, Dallas Cowboys 31
Hopefully the Falcons will beat the Cowboys just to keep the seemingly never-ending saga of “What’s wrong in Dallas” going for at least another week.
New Orleans Saints 48, Miami Dolphins 19
The Wildcat has been surprisingly effective so far this season. The only problem is going to be remaining on the field long enough to use it.
Chicago Bears 25, Cincinnati Bengals 28
Jay Cutler/Chad Ocho Cinco’s Twitter spat aside (anyone else getting tired of hearing about NFL player’s Tweets?), the Bears’ road record is 1-2, both losses coming agains good teams. Somehow the Bengals qualify as a good team this year.
Arizona Cardinals 27, New York Giants 33
After getting destroyed by Drew Brees and humbled by the Saints defense, the Giants host a team that aspires to put on the same type of performance. Only this time the Cardinals are making a cross-country road trip and don’t quite have New Orleans’ offensive talent. The Giants should be able to get back on track.
Philadelphia Eagles 23, Washington Redskins 14
Why the Redskins get a primetime game I’ll never understand, but with Washington in total chaos and the Eagles coming off a questionable loss to the one team that has the Redskins cornered in terms of futility (Oakland), this should be a painfully entertaining matchup.
