NFL Week 6 Results

59-0? Ouch. Besides an embarrassing performance in New England, what other surprising teams were blown out in week 6?

Maurice Jones Drew
Maurice Jones Drew scored three touchdowns against the Rams.

St. Louis Rams 20, Jacksonville Jaguars 23 (predicted: St. Louis Rams 20, Jacksonville Jaguars 27)

MJD complains about the offensive playcalling and the next game he scores 3 touchdowns. Maybe he should complain more often.

Carolina Panthers 28, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21 (predicted: Carolina Panthers 24, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21)

The Panthers got the win, but Jake Delhomme still managed to throw two interceptions. Note to fantasy football players: pick up whichever defense goes against Carolina… at least until Delhomme gets benched.

Cleveland Browns 14, Pittsburgh Steelers 27 (predicted: Cleveland Browns 7, Pittsburgh Steelers 41)

Not quite the blowout everyone expected, but Ben Roethlisberger threw for a week 6-leading 417 yards.

Detroit Lions 0, Green Bay Packers 26 (predicted: Detroit Lions 16, Green Bay Packers 45)

I guess the absence of Calvin Johnson is the difference between scoring points and being the normal Lions.

Baltimore Ravens 31, Minnesota Vikings 33 (predicted: Baltimore Ravens 21, Minnesota Vikings 27)

Probably the game of the week, both sides put on great shows (offensively, at least) and the result came down to a game winning field goal attempt that sailed wide. Baltimore’s record is misleading; they are clearly better than their 3-3 record suggests mostly due to Joe Flacco’s improvement under center. We’ll see how Favre’s arm holds up if he has to keep throwing 25-30 passes per game and more.

Houston Texans 28, Cincinnati Bengals 17 (predicted: Houston Texans 17, Cincinnati Bengals 20)

The Texans finally got their act together on the road. Cincinnati might regret this one down the road.

Kansas City Chiefs 14, Washington Redskins 6 (predicted: Kansas City Chiefs 28, Washington Redskins 20)

Chiefs vs. Redskins
Someone had to win, right?

Saw this one coming a mile away. The Redskins don’t need a new coach or a new quarterback, they need a new front office.

New York Giants 27, New Orleans Saints 48 (predicted: New York Giants 31, New Orleans Saints 34)

Pair a still-up-and-down quarterback on the road in a dome and an anemic pass rush against the league’s most prolific quarterback since the 2004 version of Peyton Manning and what do you get? The league’s best defense giving up 48 points to a Chargers cast-off.

Arizona Cardinals 27, Seattle Seahawks 3 (predicted: Arizona Cardinals 24, Seattle Seahawks 27)

When do we get to stop using injuries as an excuse for the Seahawks? Can’t we all just accept that they’re a bad team and that they’ve never been that good?

Philadelphia Eagles 9, Oakland Raiders 13 (predicted: Philadelphia Eagles 38, Oakland Raiders 13)

Looks like Philadelphia is back to being Philadelphia. Eagles fans can justify this loss as “wanting to keep the NFC East playoff race interesting”- kind of like last year. Right? Right?

Buffalo Bills 16, New York Jets 13 (predicted: Buffalo Bills 6, New York Jets 23)

What is it about Jets quarterbacks riding a hot streak and then putting together a string of horrible games? Mark Sanchez’s performances in the Jets’ last three losses have been… Favreian.

Tennessee Titans 0, New England Patriots 59 (predicted: Tennessee Titans 17, New England Patriots 24)

This was an embarrassing game for the entire sport as the Patriots bludgeoned the winless Titans in the Foxboro snow. The only positive I took out of this was the fantasy league in which I have both Randy Moss and Wes Welker.

Chicago Bears 14, Atlanta Falcons 21 (predicted: Chicago Bears 31, Atlanta Falcons 35)

This one looked like it was fun to watch, but it’s not surprising that Jay “medioCutler” fell short again. Meanwhile Kyle Orton is busy being undefeated.

Denver Broncos 34, San Diego Chargers 23 (predicted: Denver Broncos 21, San Diego Chargers 20)

Eddie Royal
Eddie Royal’s two returns for touchdowns helped the Broncos remain undefeated.

Denver all but planted their flag on top of the AFC West and proved that they can put points on the board taking a 4 game lead over the Chargers. Who would have thought that by week 6 the only undefeated teams remaining in the AFC would be the Colts and the Broncos?

10-4 again, bringing me to 63-27 on the season.

Stumble me!
