Agreed on almost all points; not a great clock manager, late down/goal line playcaller but a great eye for talent.

The Eagles are one of the decade's better teams in my opinion, but for some reason they always seem to be the dark horses in the playoff race. I'm not exactly sure why, either- maybe it's the Peyton Manning effect where McNabb is being blamed for lack of Super Bowl victory when in reality the playoff losses have been team efforts.

Andy Reid is a poor gameday coach. I'm not sure if its because McNabb isn't ideal for his system (though he overrode Tom Modrak, who wanted Akili Smith in the 99 draft) or because (as we're learning this year) he doesn't have the final say in personnel decisions.

That being said, assuming this is all or 75% of his making, he's been a decent talent evaluator but clearly a poor gameday coach...specifically with clock management and lat down playcalling.

Some people like to point of draft mistakes or FA busts. But if you accept all 3, then I'm not sure how FF makes a team that even gets into the playoffs, let alone 5 NFC CGs in a 10 year span...not winning proves he's doing something wrong...but getting that far means he must be doing something right...right?

A) Well obviously I can't provide you with an objective set of statistics to answer this one, but Philadelphia has given McNabb a bad rap for years now, not to mention that he's a borderline gunslinger quarterback stuck in a West coast system that favors accuracy. If McNabb leaves the Eagles are totally screwed at QB- Kolb hasn't given anyone a reason to believe that he's a worthy successor.

B) Take a look at the numbers (2008 regular season):

Week 1: 19 rushes, 2 receptions = 21 touches. Eagles win 38-3
Week 2: 18 rushes, 6 receptions = 24 touches. Eagles lose 37-41
Week 3: 5 rushes, no receptions = 5 touches. Eagles win 15-6
Week 5: 12 rushes, 6 receptions = 18 touches. Eagles lose 17-23
Week 8: 22 rushes, 6 receptions = 28 touches. Eagles win 27-14
Week 9: 20 rushes, 6 receptions = 26 touches. Eagles win 26-7
Week 10: 13 rushes, 0 receptions = 13 touches. Eagles lose 31-36
Week 11: 14 rushes, 3 receptions = 17 touches. Eagles tie 13-13
Week 12: 14 rushes, 2 receptions = 16 touches. Eagles lose 7-36
Week 13: 22 rushes, 3 receptions = 25 touches. Eagles win 48-20
Week 14: 33 rushes, 6 receptions = 39 touches. Eagles win 20-14
Week 15: 16 rushes, 3 receptions = 19 touches. Eagles win 30-10
Week 16: 12 rushes, 6 receptions = 18 touches. Eagles lose 3-10
Week 17: 13 rushes, 2 receptions = 15 touches. Eagles win 44-6

Record when Westbrook has 20+ touches: 5-1
Record when he has < 20 touches: 3-4-1

Decide for yourself, I guess.

C) Fair enough.

D) Absolutely correct, and bad oversight by me.

Anyways, since you seem to be a Philadelphia fan, what are your thoughts on Andy Reid?

Please be more out of touch with the Eagles as you throw random shit against the wall and hope it sticks.

A) Show me where the fans have been calling for Donovan McNabb's head. Did you hear it on ESPN? How about si.com? If the Eagles somehow remove McNabb from the equation, what exactly do they do at QB. Is Kevin Kolb really the answer?

B) Over 14 games in Which Brian Westbrook played (regular season) he averaged 20.5 touches per game. So "What part of “Brian Westbrook needs 20+ touches per game” is so hard to understand?" Are there issues with FF's playcalling? Yes. But it isn't because westy needs more plays, he's a fragile RB, they need another back to take the load and Correll Buckhalter was doing that (though not nearly as competently early on).

C) McNabb didn't really ask for a "financial apology." (and if its in quotes, who are you quoting?). Yes he wanted an extension on his contract (2010 represents his final year of guaranteed money) But, he wants changes...specifically, playmakers. The Eagles have yet to do anything in either department.

D) The Eagles released neither Tra Thomas or Brian Dawkins. They were free agents that went unsigned by the Eagles. Again, I don't agree, but they weren't released.
